Your light switch is your vote

VOTE EARTH

Earth Hour Has Been Transformed into the
World’s First Global Election.

Where ever you are, on March 28, turn off the lights. For one hour. Come, on. It can be fun. Have a late night candlelight dinner, or desert. Plan to cuddle with your sweetie, or meditate, or burst out in song. Or, just think about the fact that you are doing a world of good.

The goal is: Lights Out Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.

If you think just one person can't make much difference in global climate change, consider this:

77 countries and 680 cities have already committed to VOTE EARTH for Earth Hour 2009, as part of the worlds first global election between Earth and global warming.

The global sustainability movement began in Sydney, Australia in 2007. 2.2 million homes and businesses switched of the lights for just one hour.

Then, in 2008, 50 million people switched off their lights. You may have read about it. Some of the world's most famous landmarks turned off the lights. The Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House went dark. Just for one hour.

Now, in 2009, f
or the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote. Everyone can switch off the lights. Everyone can vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes.

2009 is a critical year for action on climate change, with the world's leaders due to meet at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December to sign a new deal to supersede the Kyoto Protocol.

All of our 1 billion individual votes will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

Vote with your light switch. We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations. It's that easy. Vote Earth.
