Spectacular Air Show in Branson May 8-10, 2009
Still, it feels a bit like economic recovery.
Branson and Springfield hope the economy takes off on the two new airports and an air show this May.
Of course, these projects were already in the works long before the economy tanked. Still, it feels a bit like economic recovery.
It’s time again for a get away for the good of the soul.
Maybe you won’t need to fly out of Springfield or Branson, but it expands your travel choices when you are ready.
If you drive down for a day of the air show remember sun screen, sunglasses, a water bottle, a sun visor or hat, your camera.
Enjoy the drive down, the last of the spring blooming trees will escort you to the Ozarks and on the way back. Be sure to stop by the Farmhouse restaurant for a tall cool drink and some high pie. Or read about the Great American Pie Show to find the recipe for McFarlains Traffic Jam Pie.

Sure, you can drive down for a day of aerial acrobatics, but if you choose to stay overnight, consider a B&B. Such as The Bradford Inn 5 minutes from the Highway 76 Strip and 4 miles from Silver Dollar City.

A getaway is always good for your soul. The air show is sure to fire up your patriotism. And that’s good for the soul, too.
I think one of the best ways to use an economic stimulus check, is to take a vacation, or a staycation right here in Missouri. That way you help your friends, neighbors and, the local businesses who will in turn be spending that money in their community. Helping out each other, is a neighborly way to help the local economy, the environment and your pocket book.
Gardener that I am, I’m saving a little for seed money and to spend at the local farmers markets. More ideas for stimulating the economy: grow, buy and, eat locally.
I am not suggesting that we quit traveling. Let’s just travel a little closer to home, maybe even travel by foot to the local farmer’s market.
